History

We went to Dedham, MA - where the Fairbanks house is located. It is thought to be the oldest surviving frame house in North America. I was thinking that these were relatives of Nana (Marion Fairbanks Yorgesen) but not sure now. Anyway, it was interesting to see the house.

Susan Roylance came to New York and she took us out to a cemetery in Harlem where some of our ancestors are buried - Henry Stogdill and Cornelia Stogdill. Interesting that they used to put their age on the headstones.

This was Elder McMullin's first baptism. We were fortunate to attend - it was all in Spanish so we didn't understand much that was being said - but did feel the Spirit!

Kiss - In Times Square

This 26-foot Statue was in Times Square. It is funny because we were coming across the GW Bridge a couple days before and the police had all the traffic stopped. We couldn't figure out what was going on - then they had about 5 semi-trucks come through with parts of this statue on them. Then we came to Times Square and there it was. After they had passed we started accross the bridge right behind the police cars - first time we crossed the Bridge with a police escort! :) Anyway, then Tiffanni was asking Ralph and he explained to us that it was in celebration of the end of World War II. A Sailor and a nurse passing each other at times square 65 years ago at the end of WWII embrassed and kissed and the photo was captured in Life Magazine. We missed it - but I guess many couples dressed as the statue on August 14th and smooched in Times Square to celebrate the anniversay of the end of World War II.

Tiffanni, Kylee and Josh Visit Us!

We took a boat ride in the harbor - went by the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. It was about an hour ride - not crowed so it was fun and relaxing. (anyway when the boat wasn't rocking!)

We had a great week while Tiffanni, Josh and Kylee came for a visit! We finally got to see "Wicked". It was great - had great seats!

working with Elder and Sister Excell. They are tonz of fun to be around!

Road Trip to Sharon Vermont

On our way to Sharon Vermont, we saw a sign that said helicopter tours - we were close to Cape Cod - so Elder Ashton called - and away we went. We didn't end up going over Cape Cod - but did see some of Plymouth and the Duxbury area. Surpisingly enough - I wasn't even scared!

They can drive their cars on the beach - park and spend the day there!

This is the Duxbury Pier Lighthouse. They would use this lighthouse to look for submarines during the war.

The National Monument to the Forefathers, formerly known as the Pilgrim Monument, commemorates the Mayflower Pilgrims and honors their ideals as later generally embraced by the United States.
